I am a qualified Specialist Dyslexia Teacher and Assessor with over ten years of experience in education.

My interest in dyslexia and specialist teaching grew from working with children who were bright, creative and full of potential, but who were finding it difficult to access the curriculum in the same way as their peers. I wanted to understand what was happening beneath the surface: why some children were trying so hard but still struggling with reading, spelling, writing, memory or confidence.

This led me to specialise in dyslexia and literacy difficulties, training as both a Specialist Dyslexia Teacher and Assessor. My work now focuses on helping children, families and schools understand each learner’s individual profile, not just their difficulties, but also their strengths, learning style and potential.

At Dyslexia Support Surrey, I provide specialist teaching and diagnostic dyslexia assessments that are structured, personalised and confidence-building. My approach is warm, child-led and collaborative. I aim to make the assessment process feel calm, relaxed and supportive, so each learner feels comfortable, listened to and able to show what they can do.

Many of the children and young people I work with have experienced frustration, anxiety or a loss of confidence around learning. Through teaching and assessment, my aim is to give families and schools a clear, practical understanding of what will help. I want every learner to leave with a stronger sense of how they learn, what they need and what they can achieve.

Based in Surrey, I work with families and schools across Surrey and South West London, providing specialist teaching and dyslexia assessments in homes, schools and clinical settings. Alongside my independent practice, I also support learners referred through the Helen Arkell Dyslexia Charity.
